麻坡中化中学举办“中化行”
筹募中化太阳能基金缘起

工业革命以来人类加剧消耗能源，大量释放二氧化碳等气体，造成人为的气候变化，全球暖化的问题因此日益严重，对人类及地球的生存造成莫大的威胁。面对这一严峻的局势，许多国家一方面大力推动节能减碳的政策，另一方面则大力发展包括太阳能在内的再生能源。我国政府亦于2011年制定再生能源发展政策，鼓励民众申请准证，装置再生能源系统，再由国家电力公司（TNB）以高价购回产电。

作为一所与社区相依存的民办学府，麻坡中化中学参与再生能源发展项目，藉此推动社区环保及再生能源的觉醒与认知，责无旁贷。我们于2014年即已参加太阳能发电计划，取得准证，于兴建中的多功能活动中心安装了一个24kWp的太阳能系统。此举除了响应政府的再生能源政策，带动师生及社区对再生能源的认知外，更可为学校带来一笔长达21年的稳定收入，舒缓学校的财务困境。

我们将于今年继续参与太阳能发电计划，向政府申请新的准证。由于系统成本不菲，董事会设立了《中化太阳能基金》，为太阳能系统募款，希望热心人士、学生家长、中化校友，能慷慨解囊，大力支持这项有意义的计划，共襄盛举。

我们谨订于2015年7月4日举办第7届中化行义跑，庆祝创校103周年，也藉此筹募《中化太阳能基金》。希望同胞们支持这项义举，与我们携手许地球一个可持续的未来。

An Open Letter of Appeal

Greetings to one and all!

Global warming is one of the most pressing environmental issues today. To ameliorate the situation before the problem hits the point of no return, many countries have enacted energy conservation and carbon emission policies, as well as renewable energy development strategies. In this vein, the Malaysian government started a feed-in-tariff (FiT) program in 2011 to foster the development of renewable energy, encouraging people to apply for renewable energy system permits that will enable them to sell the electricity generated to TNB at a high price.

In 2014, Chung Hwa High School participated in the solar energy FiT program and installed a 24kWp solar system on the rooftop of the multipurpose activities center currently under construction. This is an act of support towards the government’s renewable energy policy which can also help foster awareness on global warming and renewable energy. Last but not least, it brings a steady stream of income for 21 years, partially helping the school to cut down its annual budget deficit.

This year, we will apply for another solar FiT permit. As the cost of the system is high, the Board of Directors has set up a solar energy fund. A fund-raising effort for this purpose will be held in conjunction with the walkathon on July 4 to celebrate the 103 anniversary of the school’s founding. It is our hope that the community will support this vital effort of ours and together, doing our part in the fight against anthropogenic global warming.
